The Copper Collector separates copper pennies from modern zinc cents. Each unit arrives assembled with its power supply and is ready to use.
The unit can be mounted to a tabletop using the rear mounting holes or positioned over two containers using the built-in sorting slots.
With a suitable reference coin, the sorter can also be configured for other U.S. coins, including dimes, nickels, and quarters.
Setup and adjustment
Each unit is tested before shipping and includes a copper reference penny installed in the sample slot. In most cases, no adjustment is needed before use.
Connect the included 12V power supply to a wall outlet, then connect the barrel jack to the machine.
The unit has no power light or startup sound. Confirm that it is operating by running test coins through it.
If an adjustment is needed, use a small screwdriver and make only very slight turns to the potentiometer on the front, testing after each change.
If copper pennies exit on the zinc side, turn the potentiometer clockwise toward “Slack.” If zinc pennies exit on the copper side, turn it counterclockwise toward “Tight.”
Do not force the adjustment or make large turns; the potentiometer is small and delicate.
What it does—and does not do
The Copper Collector is a composition pre-sorter. It narrows the pile, but it does not identify dates, mintmarks, varieties, errors, damage, or condition. Review the output by hand and inspect questionable coins separately.
